Huge meeting about the High Lakes
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:02:20 AM »
Friends of the High Lakes is holding a huge meeting about the High Lakes.

Tuesday July 2nd  7:30 to 9:30 PM
The large room at POA, Magalia

Public invited, welcomed, and encouraged to attend.

If you wheel, ride, fish, hunt, or camp in the High Lakes, then be there.  Bring your friends.

Short Presentation, followed by Q&A

Topics Discussed:
- Avoid tickets – an update on the status of roads
- Is the entrance changing?
- The draft management plan from USFS
- Election of new faces to FOTHL
- New trail opportunities
- Ham radio in the High Lakes
- Campfires in the High Lakes
- What exactly is Pipejam?
- What is up with the obsession with putting rocks everywhere? (the law regarding mud)
- There was a census taken.  We’ll give you the results
- A staging/camping area at the T?
- A new OHV-only trail to the T?
- The place will be crawling with Forest Service “ologists” this summer.  Come find out what they are up to.
- and probably more

The room holds 400 people.  Think we can fill it with wheelers?

(Also looking for businesses that may want to help with hosting)

Show up, volunteer, then a vote. I think that is the way it works.

And we will also be looking for new members for the Steering Committee, and that is where the actual elections will be finalized.
