New Fire Restrictions
« on: September 12, 2012, 02:27:19 PM »
A new Forest Order 06-12-12   set to expire December 31, 2012

Basically ( but read it for your self, and your protection - attached` )

NO OPEN FIRES, period.

With a valid California Campfire Permit,  propane stoves and lanterns may be used, no chainsaw or mechanical engines, except motor vehicles use.

With a valid firewood permit, chainsaws can be used until 1:00 PM

Does anyone know if they will open the area to campfires at the camp sites if we get a rain up in the HL OHV area?
Does anyone know if they allow fires at the Philbrook campsite? Or at West Branch campground?
And someone was trying to tell me that the High Lakes  OHV area was closed for camping.   I didn’t believe it and thought someone  here could let me know.

The High Lakes OHV area is NOT closed to camping.

At this point the August 1 Fire restrictions remain in effect, allowing only propane stoves with a valid fire permit. No open fires.

A rain or two aren't likely to remove fire restrictions, especially with very low current humidity  and higher temps.

I will post here ( and elsewhere ), as soon as we get word that fire restrictions are lifted

I can't speak for Philbrook campground as it is under special use permit to P.G. & E. but some Philbrook folks might post here.

The West Branch Campground is on the exemption list, so a safe open fire with fire permit will be allowed in the campground.

Here's the Forest Order and exemption list:
