Forest Order lifted Chips and Mill fires area open - use caution

FYI, please see Forest Supervisor Jerry Bird’s message below.

Subject: Forest Closure Orders

Fire suppression actions on the Chips and Mill Fires on the Almanor Ranger District are essentially complete. There are still areas of heat in these fires and post fire restoration actions are ongoing resulting in significant traffic on the roads and trails within both areas. Extra caution is recommended when entering either of these fire areas.

Due to the end of the emergency conditions requiring the closure of these areas to public entry, all lands on the Lassen National Forest within the Chips and Mill Fire are once again open.

I have request for that answer in.....   no response yet

But assume closed until Plumas Forest Order  is lifted, and it will take considerably longer as it is much larger area involved - I don't see partial lifts happening.

Spring Valley, Lotts, Morris,  Long, and Campbell Lakes are all in Lassen N.F. therefore open with the warning that there may be hot spots, and rehabilitation work going on, be careful.   Possibly the most work / people / fire equipment is in the Morris Lake / Chips Lake and Ben Lomond areas, where the fire came closest to our trails

There is talk of a revision in the Fire Restrictions, but as of this very moment, ( Wednesday 9--12 noon ) the current August 1 order  stands  -- NO OPEN fires and propane stove use with a fire permit   See this post:   http://www.pantheus.com/tf/index.php?topic=760.0

Here is a map which shows the Plumas N.F. / Lassen N.F. boundary is the purple  marks going south to north which jogs at each section,  were they go from showing area with dots ( Plumas N.F. ) vs sloped lines  ( Lassen N.F. )
