Chain Saw Certification
« on: August 11, 2011, 04:09:37 PM »
Verbiage of the chain saw agreement has finally reached the final form.  It had been a moving target, in both directions...   No Way  to limited, finally after a lot of negotiation  here is final - at least for now.

FOTHL work party participants who wish to have liability and tort  claim coverage for chainsaw use under this agreement must hold a current Region 5 Chainsaw Certification card as well as current First Aid and CPR certification.

Here is the final wording, that was signed, making its round with only one more signature to go.

Ensure FOTHL members and volunteers hold a current Region 5 Chainsaw Certification card as well as current First Aid and CPR certification prior to operating a chainsaw.  FOTHL members and volunteers using a chainsaw without a current Region 5 Chainsaw Certification card will not be covered for injury compensation or tort claims under the FOTHL Sponsored Volunteer Agreement.   FOTHL members and volunteers using a chainsaw for personal fuel wood cutting will not be covered for injury compensation or tort claims under the FOTHL Sponsored Volunteer Agreement.

If you are interested in taking the chainsaw class, to obtain a 3 year certification, for any USFS in California click

Thanks for the kudos, Mike.

The final document has been signed by all, with one minor edit.

That edit removes the word liability, which is included within TORT.

We need to have two more people to register for the CPR / First Aid class, to make a minimum, though, so if you are on the fence, please sign up.
