Trail Opening Work Party
« on: July 27, 2011, 01:02:45 PM »
Since we are having one of the worst years for being able to get into The High Lakes to get anything done, due to snow, here is some information.

We have set Saturday, August 20, 2011 for our trail opening event.  Since it appears much work needs to be done, I hope all of our Adopt-a-Trail Clubs, and as many of our members as possible have the ability to attend, and work.

We should have at least 10 new fire pits to install, maybe 20, if we can gather the help and materials.   As usual, some of the camp fire rings have been filled with garbage, especially in the Spring Valley Lake area, by the early folks to get in.  Interesting that they can find room to haul it in,   but not haul it out.

It also appears that at least one, and maybe two of the large sign / maps have "disappeared", if we can get the materials, they can be replaced, hopefully with more secure means.

Much education is sorely needed.

Since the trail opening, usually our first event, is so late, due to snow and eventually mud, we will be canceling our fall event, in conjunction with National Public Lands Day.  Our only large event this year will be Saturday, August 20, 2011

We are beginning to work on whether it is feasible to hold, at that time, a raffle, dinner, and after-work party.  Volunteers to head up, and take on the parts will actually determine their inclusion.  If you'd like to take on, and do any part, let me know a.s.a.p.
