ham test
« on: January 21, 2011, 06:32:05 PM »
Can someone tell me when the next test is for the Ham Radio? Or how many people it would take to be able to get someone to have a test?  Thanks

I have a long list of ON-LIINE study guides, and tests to see how ready you are.

If that list is wanted, post up.

Several here have gotten licensed by on-line study guides, and on-line testing .  So there is no misunderstanding, one can't TAKE the official test on-line, but instead only by sitting with at least three VE's .  But the online tests can tell YOU (alone) how well you are doing in being able to pass the real test.  Same questions, same answers, just doesn't help for more than your own knowledge.

Three of us are VE's and can administer the test, but we'd need about a 10 - 14  day advance notification, to get the paperwork from Connecticut, plus a place to do the testing.

Thanks Ken.  I'm going to find out when the Oroville test is.  There may be as many as 4 of us that need to take the test. and We'll try to do one of the scheduled tests so that no one has to do a special one.  Thanks for the offer.  Can you post up or e-mail me the sites for the practice exams?  Thanks

Here are some of the online study guides.

They are presented in several different ways, because not everyone studies or learns the same way, so choose the one or ones that work best for you.  They all have the same questions and answers, tho'

I am particularly fond of the www.hamtestonline.com  one, and the paid version of it, because it tracks your learning, and feeds you back again and again the ones you have trouble with, until you get that question right.   The cost of this study guide is about the same as the book, and I think a better way to study, and not buy the book.

Since I started Technician with the books, and passed, then passed the General and Extra licenses with www.hamtestonline.com I've seen it both ways.  Further, www.hamtestonline.com "membership" is good for two years, so you can continue with them after getting your first license.

The rest are all free study guides, and www.hamtestonline.com has a free version as well,  just not all of the questions, and not for two years, and doesn't have the same tracking system.
