Update on Sierra N.F. Travel Management
« on: April 09, 2010, 09:56:20 AM »
Travel Management Update:

In our February update, we shared with you our desire to release the Final Travel Management decision in Early April which will designate a system of roads, trails areas for motorized travel in the Sierra National Forest.  We had also shared with you that Ed Cole, Forest Supervisor retired on March 1st, 2010.

Since then, Randy Moore, Regional Forester, appointed an Acting Forest Supervisor, Betty Mathews.  Betty comes to Sierra National Forest from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in Oregon and will be here until a new Forest Supervisor is selected.

Betty is very committed to understanding and getting involved with the final Travel Management Decision.  For this reason, we will release the decision on  May 10th, 2010.   For those of you who had requested documents, we will begin mailing them to you on May 1st.

We are scheduling three open houses for the week of May 17th, 18th and 19th to explain the decision.   We are also scheduling a Webinar where you can connect through the internet to hear the presentation and ask questions regarding the decision.   I will be sending out more information soon on the times and locations of the open houses and the date for the webinar.

Since this is the final decision, we will not be taking public input.  However, there will be a 45-day period in which the decision can be appealed to the Regional Forester.

If you have not requested a printed copy or a CD of the final travel management decision there is still time to do so.  You can respond back to this email or send your request to:   Please make sure to include your mailing address.  You can also call Sue Exline at 559-297-0706, ext. 4804 with your request.

We appreciate and thank you for your patience.
