Reminder about work party, Saturday June13
« on: June 05, 2009, 09:22:05 PM »
I'm hoping as many as possible can show up, and plan on having some fun.  Meeting early at Spring Valley.

We'll have lots of signs to put up, should have 50 ton of rock to move to mud holes, so trailers are sure needed.  Bring hammers and shovels for signs, chain saws for downed trees. Maybe rakes for campsites.

I have plenty of garbage bags and gloves.

All of you ham radio ops we'll be simplex on 146.445 unless we need to go to a repeater,  but you have use of call sign K6A  all week, as in K6A Bear Lake,  K6A Ben Lomond, K6A Soda Ridge,  K6A Base   and only have to ID once an hour, rather than every ten minutes.  Check out the new ham radio tab on FOTHL web site.

Hope to see you there.

My current plan is to boogie up early Saturday morning.  To be ready for 8:00 am start.

Seems easier than tent up and down...   to spend the night.. For me, anyway.

Just heard we WILL have a load of rock, maybe 25 ton, maybe 50 ton,  to move from the Lotts Lake T to various  mud holes, so any trailers would sure be welcome.

Get to Spring Valley in something that runs,  you can be very useful in helping move 25 or 50 tons of rocks, or a myriad of other things.   Or ride with me,   will have an empty passenger seat, if I put it back in.

I have a trailer that can be used for hauling rock, just no rig to get it up there. If someone wants to tow it up come get it. Takes a 2" ball.
K6FHL Repeater 146.700(-) PL 110.9 for coverage in the High Lakes and beyond, is linked to the W6SCR Repeater 145.290(-) PL 110.9 on Platte Mtn. for coverage into the Sacramento Valley.

Hello, Friends

I'm sure I didn't get the opportunity to thank each and every one of you individually that did come to help out.  So I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone of you that came, worked, and did such a terrific job.

I can tell you for sure, the 4 Forest Service people were very impressed,  And you sure got a lot done. They even stated they had fun doing it.  Bobby looked a little beat, though   ;D

My heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Quite a bit of rock was moved, although there is lots more to get moved.  If everyone going in that has the ability to carry rock, no matter how big or small of an amount, and would pick up what you can from the "T", and drop it into any of the holes that are obviously still in need of more, that would be greatly appreciated.  The bigger pile of larger rocks fills holes faster, while the smaller pile of smaller rocks can go well in any creek crossing to act as armoring to keep wheels off of dirt bottom, if any still exist that need more armoring.

The big long hole before the stair steps, is one place still in need of more rocks,  some of the mud holes on the trail along side Long Lake is another.

My poor trailer is crying hard from having so much rock moved in it....  but it did make it back home.

My heartfelt thanks to all who made such a great effort...  THANKS !

Ken

Bob,

The above post is almost a year old.

This was the June 2 0 0 9 work party...   You may have been in Arizona...  but we haven't set a date for 2 0 1 0 Trail Opening, yet, due to the unpredictability of the white stuff, that keeps falling T H I S  Y E A R
