Extension granted on comments until March 16
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:37:56 AM »
Sierra Access Coalition requested a 90-day time extension for public comment on the Plumas Travel Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).  Forest Supervisor Alice Carlton granted a 30-day extension.  That gives the public until March 16, 2009 to submit comments on the OHV Travel Management Plan.

SAC has a letter generator on their website ( as well as other information to help you submit comments to the Forest Service.  The letter generator makes it quick and easy to submit your comments using pre-written statements that you can pick and choose to include in your letter.  It's VERY IMPORTANT that the public make their opinions known.  The "preservationists" are contacting the USFS in large numbers which makes them appear to be the majority, so it's more important than ever for us to express our views too.  Remember, silence is acceptance.

SAC has several natural resource specialists reviewing the DEIS and drafting a response to the USFS.  SAC feels that many issues have not be adequately addressed.  We will be sharing this information with our members as soon as we compile all the data.  If you have comments, please send them to us.

The 5 alternatives that are in Draft EIS are available on  Maps and more information on each alternative are available at each Forest Service office on the Plumas, and are also displayed at duPont's Power Tool in Quincy.

We have until March 16 to respond to the USFS proposals.
