Re-check your comment maps with THIS legend.
« on: July 27, 2007, 10:41:56 PM »
Compare this legend to the maps you are commenting on,  or to the maps of the areas you use or want to use.

Here is the legend as to what the symbols on the maps that were on the CD mean.

Pay close attention to what you see, based on this legend,  and make your comments at this discussion_draft stage, ( postmarked August 1 or earlier ) BEFORE it gets to the next stage.

Legend:  http://www.pantheus.com/maps/RouteDesignation_DiscussionDraft_Legend_13july07.pdf

Bear Lake campsite => Kimshew Point NE, Section 27, Road # UC2701

Let me know if you want maps of other areas of Lassen N.F. because they aren't listed above.

I'm not liking what I see, and you shouldn't either !

Being that I have never wheeled in the High Lake's area What can I do to help ? Not knowing any of the trails there I don't know how much help I would be. Also I'm sorry I couldent make the meeting in Burney finances beyond my control kept me from going.
CAUTION: I have an 05 wrangler and I'm not afraid to use it

I have never been on the trails up there either, I did make the meeting in Paradise.  Being at the meeting I understand what to filll out and what to send in.  Someday, I'd like to get there...
Ken, is there a way to post samples of each of the forms that should be filled out so that those that did not make the meeting can see what is expected?  Having the correct map, even marked up, would help assure that it gets done correctly.  I'm sure that if any form is sent in wrong, they will just get tossed...
Posting this info will enable it to get out to more peeps, let me know if there is anything I can do.

One of the things we are trying hard to avoid is cookie-cutter / duplicated / copied forms & maps, as they too will get tossed.   Sure, it would be great if one of us filled them out and everyone just photo'd and mailed.  That isn't going to work, though.  And was the main reason we had the workshop,  to show HOW to fill them out,  and then each person could explain their OWN reasons why each trail they want to use, or have used is important, for their own reasons.

Marked maps and forms are up on display at Off-Road Center, 8935 Skyway, Paradise,  M-F, 9-4, closed 1 - 2:15.  Deadline for postmark remains August 1 .

What this legend shows however, without me explaining it in huge detail, on a board,  is that most, if not all, of the High Lakes trails are PROPOSED to become summer/fall use only,   and some we've used for years are PROPOSED to become single track.  Summer/fall ONLY could effectively close the High lakes for SEVEN months use, every year, and IMHO lose some of the best reasons to go there.

I hope those aware of the maps and the trails can see that another comment is needed, because it sure looks to me like winter wheeling up there is gone, if we allow them to get the proposed draft in effect.  And all of Bear Lake trail and PipeJam becomes single track   Bah!  Plus I'd much rather get it stopped NOW with comments,  than to wait for the DEIS to do it to us, if at all possible.

Sorry for not being clear...  I was not suggesting that you fill out all the forms so that all the lazy 4 wheelers in the world could copy them.  No cookie cutter intended...   I was thinking more like an on-line workshop...  Smack me down...
Well, anyways, I'll have mine in the mail tomorrow.  Thank you for all your efforts and energy in this endeavor!
