Woodcutting suspended on Plumas NF
As a result of continued hot, dry, weather, personal fuel woodcutting will be suspended on the Plumas National Forest (PNF) effective July 25 until the fire danger moderates. Additional fire restrictions will go into effect as well. Forest officials are closely scrutinizing commercial uses of the forest in the event any additional precautions might be necessary.
Additionally, the use off-highway vehicles (OHV) and internal combustion engines will only be permitted on Forest Service system roads, such as those marked with a number (i.e. 24N70), unless the user has a permit that specifically allows them to do so.
On public land, campfires continue to be allowed in designated sites (developed recreation areas) only. Smoking is only allowed within the confines of an enclosed vehicle, building, or developed recreation site.
For more information, please contact the local Forest Service office, or visit the Plumas National Forest web page at www.fs.fed.us/r5/plumas.
